Mix it Up on Closing Night

This year we are celebrating the closing night – Saturday, 4 June – at several venues across Brockley, so why not Mix It Up at The Max.

BBQ and Beats (16:00 – 23:00) Eclectic mix of indie/rock, funk, hip-hop, crazy ukuleles and acoustic sets from a full-on line up of acts featuring Solar Unit, Strange Chocolate, Sense of Amelia, Brockley Ukulele Group and Dune Lake. The BBQ gets fired up at 4pm so grab a burger and bun, sit in the sun and soak up the sounds of the last night of the Brockley Max festival.

Venue: The Wickham Arms

Unplugged (20:00) 50s, 60s,70s R&B and rock and roll – soulful vocals, eddy riffs, driven guitars, solid drum grooves overlaid with smooth sax lines combining to produce a lively and energetic core set of infectiously danceable music.

Venue: Hop Scotch Café

Masquerade Ball (from 20:00 ’til late ) A decadent evening of dressing to impress. Put on your finest Venetian mask and come to party away the closing night of Brockley Max.

Venue: Jam Circus

A Midsummer Night’s Dream (20:00) £12/£10 The Faction Theatre Company’s energetic and physical approach brings to life the majesty of Shakespeare’s most popular comedy. A duke and an Amazon celebrate their engagement but can’t persuade Hermia to marry Demetrius. She and Lysander elope, but are pursued by their respective rivals. An amateur dramatics group of local tradesman rehearse the unexpectedly hilarious tale of tragic lovers Pyramus and Thisbe. They all end up in the mystical Athenian woods, where the fairy kingdom is in turmoil.
